MCDU Functions

Lateral Functions are those that allow the planning and execution of a flight plan from one point (origin) to the end point (destination) via a set of way points

Lateral Functions

Selecting origin and Destination

Inserting a an airway

Inserting a a way point

Fix info

Inserting a new destination

Vertical Functions are those that allow the planning and execution of a the vertical path of the aircraft as it follows the lateral flight plan

Vertical Functions

Constant Mach

Wind

Holding pattern

Route offset

Alternate airport

The flight crew may perform many operations from the MCDU. The MCDU is used to enter a flight plan, make performance predications compute a lateral and vertical flight profile, monitor the fuel predictions, manage the radio navigation etc.

The following sections describe the many separate functions that may be performed using the MCDU.

Step Alts

Speed Limits

Speed Constraint

Altitude Constraint
