Origin / Destination Entry

The flight plan is defined by the route between the origin airport and destination airport. This Origin / Destination pairing is also referred to as a city pair. The flight may enter a company route by name on the INIT A page or they may simply enter a Origin / Destination ICAO airport pair.

The first thing to do, when setting up a flight plan is to enter the origin / destination airport pair. This is the airport from where the flight will depart (origin) and the airport where the flight is planed to end (destination).

As with all entries into the MCDU the information is first typed into the
scratchpad and then the appropriate Line Select Key (LSK) is pressed to enter that information into the FMGS.

If the airport pair exist in the company route data base, the available company routes will appear on the
Route Selection Page

If there is no company route between the airports, then the select company route page displays "None"

The Origin/destination city pair is entered on the
INIT A page in LSK 01. To get to the INIT A page press the INIT button on the MCDU.

Enter in the scratchpad   . the city pair such as EGKK/EDDM (London Gatwick to Muenchen Deutschland). Note that the forward slash must be used. The first ICAO airport should be that of the origin and must be where the aircraft is physically located.

When entering the city pair (origin / destination) the MCDU will automatically change to the  Route Selection Page
