Route Offset
The flight crew may define a lateral flight plan, offset to the left or right of the original flight plan, from the present position to the first Hold waypoint or (DECEL) waypoint. The offset is applied to all waypoints down path, and can be between 1 and 50 nm, in 1 nm steps.
The offset function is accessed from a lateral revision page for the From Waypoint. This will state PPOS in its title
If the entry is made when the aircraft is too close to the TO waypoint, then the FMGC may not accept the entry and give a MCDU Message of ENTRY OUT OF RANGE.
This will also occur for entries less than 1 and more than 50 nm
When a valid entry is made, the page offers a ERASE or INSERT prompt.
Selecting the INSERT prompt will enter the offset into the flight plan.
The offset is displayed on the ND as a continuous green line. The original path is shown as a dotted green line.
The offset exists from the Present Position to the first hold waypoint or STAR waypoint.
When an offset is active, the flight plan page shows OFST as its title.
Clearing an Offset
There are 2 ways to clear an offset.
