Route Entry

Entering the route

For this flight, there is a company route named GCCHAMD1. The MCDU pages for Inserting waypoints and Inserting airway paths should be referred to when no company route exits.
To load the company route, the pilot can do either :

On the INIT page, write the origin/arrival (EGCC/EHAM) airport pair into LSK 1R

On the INIT page, enter the company route name (GCCHAMD1) into LSK 1L

Selecting the departure

This will bring up the route selection page. To enter the route, press Insert

The departure details are entered by selecting the departure airport on the flight plan page. This gives the later revision page for the departure airport. The runway, and SID may be selected from these pages.
For this example the runway selected is Runway 06L and the departure SID is the DESIG 1S

Selecting the Arrival

When returning the flight plan page several actions may need to be performed.

The system may not have had enough time to enter the flight plan and still show ERASE/INSERT prompt

Successive key presses at the insert prompt will load the SID completely

This is a feature of this version of the FMGS aid is not representative of the aircraft MCDU

The flight plan discontinuity will need to be removed

Use the  CLR button  to delete the flight plan discontinuity

This is representative of the aircraft MCDU

There may now be a SID waypoint entry matching a route entry waypoint (same name).

Use the  CLR button  to delete the duplicate, taking care not to delete the SID version, as it may have a required constraint.

Selecting an arrival (STAR) is similar to selecting a departure SID. Select the arrival airport (EHAM) on the flight plan page and select the LSK to its left to bring up the lateral revision page for the airport. Then follow the steps through the arrival prompt. For this example the STAR chosen is the LAMSO 1A which takes the flight plan to the SUGOL waypoint

Select the arrival airport on the Flight plan page , either by using repeated AIRPORT button presses or by scrolling down the flight plan

Select the arrival prompt on LSK 1R

Select the LSK Left key next to runway 18R

Select the LSK Left key next to LAMS1A STAR
You may need to
scroll down the list if it is not being displayed

The arrival page should now show the Runway and STAR
Note that in this version of the FMGS Aid there is no VIA available

Insert the STAR and observe the plan ND centered over SUGOL
There may be duplicate waypoints as SUGOL may be in the flight pla as well as in the STAR. Delete the flight plan version of the duplicate waypoint using
CLR

Adding waypoints

Reviewing the arrival information for EHAM, shows that following SUGOL, there are the approach waypoints of EH606, NIRSI and EH607 to enter. These waypoints are added to the flight plan by writing them into the scratchpad and pressing the appropriate  LSK

Select the Flight Plan by pressing the F PLN button on the MCDU.

Move up/down the flight plan until the SUGOL waypoint and the next waypoint are showing.

write "EH606" into the scratchpad.

Select the LSK after SUGOL. This will insert EH606 after SUGOL

write "NIRSI" into the scratchpad.

Select the LSK at EH606. This will insert NIRSI after EH606

write "EH607" into the scratchpad.

Select the LSK at NIRSI. This will insert EH607 after NIRSI

This gives a final route from EGCC runway 06L to EHAM runway 18R. The Map button on the FMGS Aid dialog can show the full route now contained in the MCDU
