MCDU Basics

The MCDU has a standard set of alpha numeric keys which are used to enter information into the FMGS. When pressed, the associated letter or number is displayed in the scratchpad

 

 

Page Control

 

The MCDU has 4 keys used for display control. Left and right keys are used to access associated pages, for example the Init A and B pages.

 

When the Up/Down arrows appear in the MCDU display screen, then the Up/Down keys on the MCDU are enabled Pressing the Up/Down keys will scroll the display screen up and down

Airport Key

 

The airport key does not access any MCDU page. It is used on the Flight Plan Page to jump to the Destination Airport, Origin Airport and Alternate Airport entries

 

 

Direct Page Access Keys

 

The direct access keys allow the flight crew to call up specific MCDU pages for a single key press.
