Route Entry

On starting the program, the simulated aircraft must be located to an airport ( the origin airport ) , the aircraft fuel weight and zero fuel weight must be set and the joy stick interfaced. To do this the program has an Airport, Weights and Joystick button.

Select the joystick button

Select the Airport button

Select the Weights Button

Apply any NULL offset that may be required. Using Windows Calibration after selecting the joystick may have no effect

Select Manchester Airport (EGCC) as the origin. Either use the drop down selection for Europe and select Manchester international or enter EGCC in the ICAO reference box. And then select Initialize Airport button.

Select 150 tons as the ZFW and 40 tons of fuel

Before preparing the aircraft for flight, ensure that the program is in the Running State and that no malfunctions are present. Also press the System Reset button to ensure that any latched aircraft systems states are released.

This example indication shows that the program is not ready as it has exiting malfunctions set and the program state is Paused.

Aircraft preparation for flight

The simulated aircraft may set up for flight as described in the Aircraft Preparation section. The preparation will include setting the electrical, hydraulic, air, fuel ADIRU systems ready for flight. If a quick start is not selected for the ADIRU (fast align), the route entries and performance entries for the MCDU may still be done, whilst the ADIRU aligns.

Note that prior to engine start the MCDU flight plan must be complete with all the necessary performance elements entered. The INIT pages are not accessible after first engine start.
