Along side the main display screen are 12 Line Select Keys (LSK), 6 on the left and 6 on the right. Each left and right key pair is aligned with a main text line of the MCDU display

The Line Select Keys are often referred to as LSK and given their position as L/R 1 to 6. As an example LSK 6L would be the 6th LSK on the left

Scratch Pad

The scratch pad is the last row of 23 characters on the MCDU screen. The Keypad is used to enter letters and numbers into the scratch pad. By pressing any LSK, the scratch pad entry is passed to the MCDU and used by the function associated with that LSK

The MCDU can also post messages to the scratch pad

The CLR button can pressed once to clear a single character or held down to clear the entire scratch pad

The Scratchpad is the last line of text in the MCDU screen
