Airbus A330-200 PC simulation Getting Started

The A330 simulation is a windows real time simulation of the A330 aircraft. Like any other simulation, several actions need to be taken to initialize the aircraft for a simulated flight. Once these initial actions have been completed the simulated aircraft can be set to fly a route from engine start to landing.

Simulation running, aircraft at the gate, electrically powered.

Starting the program into real time

Selecting the running state

Initial position at an airport

Ground power

Aircraft weights set.

Starting APU

Entering a route

Starting engines

FCU set up for take off

Reposition to take off point

Initial set up

Route entered, aircraft configuration set, engines running.

Ready for take off

Initialize the simulated aircraft position.

This allows the simulated aircraft to be positioned on the ground, at the Origin Airport.

Enter Aircraft Weights

The simulated aircraft may be set up for Zero Fuel Weight ( ZFW) and for an appropriate fuel load. The fuel may be set as a Fuel Set action, or as a simulated on ground fueling action. Simulated on ground fueling  takes about 20 minutes to fuel up t the maximum fuel load, but may be done whilst all the other flight preparations are taking place.

After these initial steps, the simulated aircraft is ready for passengers to board, and for the flight crew to prepare for the flight.

The complete set of  preparations for a flight are about 10 to 30 minutes. These are detailed in the “Before Flight”  chapter. The program also allows a quick start for some or all the aircraft systems.
