The A330 simulation is a windows real time simulation of the A330 aircraft. As such it can be placed into several running states. Control of these states is mainly archived by pressing the RUN/PAUSE button at the top left hand corner of the windows dialog. The state of the program are indicated in the top left of the dialog just above the RUN/PAUSE button.

Program States

This is an automatic state which occurs when the program is first started. Because the program runs in real time and is the control for a complete cockpit simulator using networked Pcs, the simulation needs to be started by pressing the RUN/PAUSE button. Until that happens the program is in the Initialization state and most other dialog buttons will not function.

INIT

This state occurs when the simulation is first started, or when ever the RUN/PAUSE button is pressed whilst the simulation is in the Running state. Whilst in the paused state the simulation is frozen. Cockpit switches etc may still respond to mouse presses, just as actual aircraft hardware parts may be moved, but the underlying simulation behind them is frozen.

PAUSED

The running state is the normal state of the program. In this state all the simulation is running in real time and simulating the performance of the aircraft. This state is entered, whenever the RUN/PAUSE button is pressed whilst the program is in Paused or Position Freeze state.

RUNNING

This is an automatic state which occurs whenever a reposition is selected. In this state the flight model adjusts itself for the required reposition.  During this state, the A/P, A/T and joy stick are prohibited. The state ends automatically when the simulated aircraft is trimmed in the new position. When this state ends it automatically sets the program to Position Freeze state.

RE SETTING

This is an automatic state which occurs at the end of a reset. In this state, the aircraft’s geographical position is frozen. The state exists to allow the user to organize the aircraft’s configuration via the cockpit controls to be consistent to reposition. Such actions would be to set the landing gear lever, or engage the A/P etc.

POS FRZ

This is a user selectable state.

Press the windows button immediately below the program State indicator to set the program into the running state. The Button will indicate “PAUSE” and the Green running state will be shown when the program is in the normal running state.
