Program Controls  (Joy Sticks)

NULL OUT

The A330-200 PC simulation can incorporate a joy stick interface to allow the user to perform take offs, F/D commands and explore the fly by wire aspects of the simulated A330-200.  Note that the A330-200 has been primarily designed to be used with the A/P to generate familiarity with the aircraft.

To connect a joy stick, simply press the joystick button the left side of the dialog. This will bring up the Joy Stick Dialog which can show the joy stick parameters. In case there is any fixed offset, a NULL button may be pressed to null out the offset on a particular channel.

It is possible that a joy stick may have an offset. If this occurs, the NULL OUT button may be used to record that offset and so have a zero input to the simulation when not being moved.

Buttons

The joy stick may have buttons for A/P and A/T disconnect. These are indicated when they are pressed.

Commanding

A Green LED square illuminates when the joy stick is commanding a  value greater than an initial dead zone. It is important that this Green LED is illuminated only when the joy stick is being moved. The Green Command LED is repeated on the main dialog t inform the user at all times when the simulation is acknowledging the that the joy stick is being moved.

Thrust Lever Position

The Thrust lever position is used to primarily set simulated thrust lever detent value used by the A/THR. The thrust lever may be used to control engine thrust directly ( when the A/THR is disengaged), but care must be taken to set the thrust lever(s) on the joy stick to the correct detent when using the A/THR.

The detent thrust lever position is shown on the thrust lever image on the pedestal. Engaging the A/THR with the thrust levers set at idle will produce IDLE THUST mode and mat cause he aircraft speed to fade away until Alpha Floor conditions are met.
