Alternate

The aircraft is now traveling down the eastern seaboard of the USA. The original destination of Orlando International Airport (MCO) is now unable to accept the flight. After considering alternatives, the flight crew opt to divert to the alternate destination of Orlando Sanford, instead of their primary alternate of Tampa.

The original destination of Orlando (KMCO) is shown, with the routing for the primary alternate for Tampa (KTPA) shown in blue.

The aircraft is about 320 miles from Orlando when the flight crew decide to enter a New Destination.

A new destination is entered into the MCDU using the lateral revision page of the waypoint in the flight from where the route will start to the new destination. When entered , all the remaining waypoints in the flight plan will be removed.

For this flight the new destination is entered after Ormond Beach (OMN)

On the Flight Plan page select the Left LSK next to OMN

On the corresponding Lateral Revision page, type KSFB into the scratch pad

Select LSK 4R to enter it as a new destination.

Select LSK 6R to insert the new destintaion into the flight plan

Remove the flight plan discontinuity and proceed to enter the arrival runway and STAR for the new destination

A new destination prompts the flight crew to enter into the flight plan.

On this flight the runway will be 27R at Orlando Sanford using the STAR BITHO 7 arrival. However it is likely that the flight crew will be directed to runway 27R by ATC.
