ND : map Symbols
The flight plan from the MCDU is shown on the Nav Display in the Rose, Plan and Arch configurations. The flight plan is shown as the green line, when in NAV mode. On it may be many different types of Nav symbols

Level symbol. These appear at the Top Of Climb (T/C) or a step climb. The level off altitude. If the level off altitude is the FCU selected altitude the symbol is shown in blue, else if it s a level off from the MCDU it is shown in magenta |
Top of descent or step descent. If the level off altitude is the FCU selected altitude the symbol is shown in blue, lese if it s a level off from the MCDU it is shown in magenta |
Track Diamond. This shows the aircraft’s track |
When the NAV mode is not active. The flight path line is shown as dashed green line. |
The Alternate airport route is shown as a blue dotted line. |
A route constraint is shown as a circle around the waypoint. The constraints may be altitude or speed. The constraint circles only appear of the Constraints push button on the Nav Controller has been pressed.
If the constraint is predicted to be matched, the circle is shown as magenta. If the constraint is predicted to be missed, the circle is shown as amber. If the NAV mode is not engaged, the circle is shown as white. |
A speed change symbol is a solid magenta circle. The symbol indicates the point on the flight plan where an automatic speed change will occur, such as climbing above a speed restriction level. |
The “TO” waypoint is shown in white and all other waypoints are shown in green on the main flight plan, blue on the alternate and amber on a temporary flight plan section.
A Fix is indicated by a blue line back to the chosen intersection to the flight path. |
A temporary flight path section is shown in dotted amber. |
Energy arch symbol appears in descent less than 180 nm from destination and when not in the Nav Mode. The symbol shows the point on the map in the aircraft’s heading where the aircraft will descend to the selected or airport altitude, given the current descent angle. |
The intercept symbol only appears in descent. It shows the point where the aircraft will intercept the descent path. |
