NAV

 

 

The NAV mode is a managed mode that guides the aircraft in the lateral plane along the flight path entered at the MCDU. The NAV mode is available once there is a flight plan active in the MCDU.

The NAV mode is armed when:

Aircraft on the ground in Runway Mode

The HDG knob on the FCU is pushed

The APPR button is pressed on the FCU when a non ILS approach has been selected in the MCDU

The NAV mode is disarmed when:

The APPR button is pressed on the FCU ( to deselect the non ILS approach )  when NAV mode is armed.

The HDG knob on the FCU is pulled to select the HDG/TRK mode

The LOC button is pressed on the FCU when NAV mode is armed.

The Go Around mode is engaged

The NAV mode engages when the aircraft is with in the NAV capture zone and:

Automatically at 30 feet or above, if armed

Or the HDG knob on the FCU is pushed

The NAV mode engages when the aircraft is with in the NAV capture zone, relative to the TO waypoint

The HDG knob on the FCU is pushed, to arm the NAV mode.

The NAV mode disengages when

Any other lateral mode is engaged

The flight plan reaches a flight plan discontinuity

The NAV mode guides the aircraft in the lateral plane along the flight path entered at the MCDU.

The TO waypoint is indicated on the ND in white. ( DET20 in this example )
