Climbing Out over Irish Sea

 

 

Requesting Oceanic Clearance

 

 

Manchester ATC directs the flight out over the Irish sea and towards Dublin before handing over to Dublin and then Shanwick for the Oceanic Entry point.

The flight crew have performed their after takeoff checks, and are cleared to an initial altitude of FL190, then FL280 and finally FL350, the initial cruise altitude

During the climb ,as the Out Side Air temperature falls below 4 deg and due to the cloud ( moisture) the PNF selected the engine anti Ice on. This will prevent ice build up on the engine nacelles.

After climbing through the speed restriction altitude of 10000 ft, the FMGS selects a target climb speed of 322 knots.

ATC initially gives a clearance of 19000 ft then 28000 ft.

As the aircraft approaches Dublin, the flight crew request their Oceanic clearance over the North Atlantic. Initially they request FL 370 on track Charlie. After some time the Oceanic Clearance is given as FL350 on Track Charlie at Mach 0.82

The Flight crew set up the FCU and MCDU for flight across the North Atlantic at 0.82 Mach and FL350. The aircraft then leaves the British Isles onwards towards the USA.

ATC directs the aircraft Direct to AKELI, and the flight crew enter a DIRECT TO input the MCDU, this time with Abeam to show the original waypoints.
