Air conditioning

The air conditioning is achieved by the supply of cool air from the PACKs to the cockpit and the cabin.

A Zone controller monitors the temperature in the cabin and cockpit and adjust the air trim valves, that inject hot air from the bleed system to warm the air entering each zone.

There are several zones. One cockpit zone and three cabin zones, Forward, Mid and Aft. There are 2 air conditioning hot air supply feeds. Hot air comes from the left and right bleed systems. A Cross bleed valve exists in case of loss of one of the hot air supplies.

On the Air overhead panel, there is a Cockpit temperature knob and a Cabin temperature knob. These knobs feed the zone controller with the required temperatures in the cockpit and cabin. Both temperature knobs can request temperatures from 18 deg C to 30 Deg C in 2 deg C increments.
