Fuel System Malfunctions

The A330 simulation offers the following malfunctions for the fuel system :

Left Fuel Pump Fail L1

When selected the associated fuel pump fails, producing a FUEL PUMP LO Pressure warning on the ECAM. Turning off the fuel pump allows the standby pump to be activated.

Left Fuel Pump Fail L2

Right Fuel Pump Fail R1

Right Fuel Pump Fail R2

Outer tank transfer fail

When selected the automatic transfer from the outer to inner tanks fail. To observe any effect the automatic transfer must be taking place. If the malfunction is selected before the automatic transfer starts, then the transfer will fail once it has been initiated.

In order to continue with the transfer the flight crew must initiate a manual transfer.

Trim tank transfer fail

When selected the automatic transfer from the trim tank fails. To observe any effect the automatic transfer must be taking place. If the malfunction is selected before the automatic transfer starts, then the transfer will fail once it has been initiated.

In order to continue with the transfer the flight crew must initiate a manual transfer.

Note that there is no master caution for these failures due to the redundancy of the fuel system, having at least 1 other pump per engine.
