ADIRU Panel

 

IR buttons

 

Normal operation.

 

In/On

 

Inertial Outputs suspended.

 

 

Out/Off

 

Steady  .... Complete loss of IR unit.

Flashing .... Attitude and/or Heading data lost.  Possibly remedied by switching to ATT

 

 

 

FAULT

 

IR unit disconnected

 

 

OFF

 

AD buttons

 

Normal operation.

 

In/On

 

Inertial Outputs suspended.

 

 

Out/Off

 

Error detected in AD part

 

 

 

FAULT

 

AD unit disconnected

 

 

OFF

 

Battery Light

 

Illuminates when any ADIRU is powered by aircraft’s batteries only

 

 

 

ON BAT

 

Illuminates briefly when IR Unit initially starts aligning. That is the knob selected to NAV

 

 

 

ADIRU Knobs

 

ADIRU is not powered. No IR or AD information is available

 

OFF

 

Normal operation the unit supplies all necessary information for navigation.

 

 

NAV

 

IR unit supplies only Attitude and Heading information. The unit is unable to supply any navigation information.

 

 

ATT

 

The Air Data (AD) Inertial Reference Unit (IRU) system (ADIRU) control panel is located at the top of the overhead

 

 

The ADIRU supplies all the necessary information to the displays, FMGS, and other systems to navigate the aircraft.

 

 

There are 3 separate ADIRU systems, IR/AD 1 , IR/AD2, IR/AD 3
