Flaps And Slats

 

The flaps and slats are controlled from a single flap lever on the right of the pedestal area.  The flaps have 5 settings, Up, 1, 2, 3 and Full.

 

The flap and slat system have various safe guards to relieve the system for excessive speeds. To prevent retraction in alpha floor states. Etc.

The status of the flaps is shown at the bottom of the EWD at all times.

 

Flap Indications

 

Normal Indication for flap set for takeoff.

Flaps moving to setting 3. The setting mark shown in blue. However, the F is shown in amber for a flap failure. The flaps use Green and yellow hydraulics. Failure of these or the slat system produces an amber F

 

Slats use Green and Blue hydraulics. Failure of these or the slat system produces an amber S

 

 

The commanded flap setting is shown in blue whilst the flaps/slats transition.

 

 

 

The commanded flap setting is shown in green when the flaps/slats are in position

 

 

 

 

The flaps have an automatic load relieve for IAS speeds shown below.

Slats move to position 1

VFE on PFD is 215 knots

Flaps automatically retract at 200 knots

Takeoff

Flaps automatically retract at 200 knots

Holding

Flap lever 1

Flaps stay up

Slats move to position 1

VFE on PFD is 240 knots

 

Approach

Slats move to position 2

VFE on PFD is 196 knots

 

Approach

Flap lever 3

Flaps move to position 3

Slats stay at Position 2

VFE on PFD is 186 knots

 

Approach

Flaps move to position Full

Slats stay at Position 2

VFE on PFD is 180 knots

 

Flap Lever in Full

Flaps retract at 180 knots

Flaps wont extend again until less than 177 knots

Flap Lever in 3

Flaps retract at 188 knots

Flaps wont extend again until less than 183 knots

Flap Lever in 2

Flaps retract at 198 knots

Flaps wont extend again until less than 193 knots

Flap Lever in 1

Flaps retract at 200 knots

Flaps wont extend again until less than 195 knots
