When there is a need to jettison fuel, such as to reduce to the aircraft weight below the maximum landing weight, the flight crew may select the jettison push buttons on the overhead left hand side.
Jettison
The flight crew must first arm the jettison and then select the activate the jettison. To arm the jettison, the ARM push button must be pressed.
To activate the jettison, the ACTIVE push button must be pressed. This will initially show ON, then when the jettison valves are fully open, it will show OPEN
On the fuel SD page, the jettison indications are shown. Note that the standby pumps come on automatically and the cross feed valve opens.
The center tank fuel pumps are required for jettison.
