MCDU Colors

 

 

Color

Usual meaning

 

 

GREEN

This is MCDU data that can not be modified. Examples are:

Active flight plan data

Performance data

 

BLUE

Blue is used to indicate the pilot may make data entry. Pilot entered data is in large blue font whilst MCDU data is in small blue font

 

MAGENTA

Magenta text is associated with constraints, such as altitude constraints, speed and time constraints

 

 

 

WHITE

Page titles

Data field labels

Page prompts

 

 

AMBER

Temporary data such as a temporary flight plan

 

 

YELLOW

Appears on the Departure and Arrival pages for selected runways, SIDS and STARs.

The Airbus MCDU uses colors to signify different types of text on its display. The text size is also used to signify meaning. Large font generally means that the pilot may modify the item, small font usually means that the item is un-modifiable

 

 

 

Flight Plan Colors

 

The Airbus MCDU has 4 types of flight plan that are shown ( not all at once) on the Nav Display. Each type of flight plan has its own color.

Flight Plan meaning

 

 

 

Primary flight plan. Shown Dotted when the FCU NAV mode is not engaged.

 

The Secondary flight plan.

 

 

Temporary Flight Plan. This may occur when a modification has been made to the Primary Flight plan . The MCDU will show INSERT and ERASE prompts to either make this the Primary Flight Plan or erase the proposed changes.

 

 

 

 

The Alternate route. This flight plan is shown from the Destination to the alternate destination.
