Manual Start

Manual starting of the engines is achieved by uncovering the engine manual start button on the right overhead panel and the selecting it.

PROCEDURE

Manual engine start is similar to auto engine start, except the flight crew determine when to open the fuel shut off valve. The fight crew must monitor the engine start, as the FADEC will only indicate the engine parameters, automatic start abort and start control are not fully available.

The engine start knob is selected to IGN. The manual push button on the overhead panel is pressed in, indicating “ON”. At about 30% N2 the engine master switch may be selected to open the fuel shut off valve.

The flight crew must de-select the manual push button when the engine is started.
