Hydraulic System Malfunctions

The A330 simulation offers the following malfunctions for the Hydraulic system :

Green ENG 1 Pump Fail

When selected the associated engine driven hydraulic pump fails, producing a HYD PUMP LO Pressure warning on the ECAM. Turning off the hydraulic pump will lead eventually to a low pressure warning for the system (except for the green system which has two engine driven pumps ) activated. The electric pumps will be needed to move control surfaces such as flaps etc.

Green ENG 2 Pump Fail

Blue  ENG 1 Pump Fail

Yellow ENG 2 Pump Fail

Green Resevoir Overheat

When selected the associated reservoir heats up until an over heat warning is triggered.  This may take a minute or so from the selection of the malfunction.

Blue Resevoir Overheat

Yellow Resevoir Overheat

After following the action indicated on the ECAM, that is the switching off of the engine and electric pumps, the reservoir oil will slowly cool down.

Depending upon the flight conditions the overheat warning may disappear, at which point the hydraulic pumps may be re-started. If the malfunction is still active, another over heat warning will occur shortly afterwards.

Several flight control components will be effected with the loss of one or more hydraulic systems. These will be indicated on the status page of the Systems Display.
