The FMA is located at the top of the PFD. It shows the actual auto flight mode that is currently active. When there is a change of mode, a white box highlights the new mode for 10 seconds.

Engaged Modes

 

Engaged modes are shown in green on the first line (FMA Line 1) for the A/THR and A/P and F/D which are Columns 1,2 and 3.

 

 

Armed Modes

 

Armed pitch and Roll modes in Columns 2 and 3 are shown in Blue or Magenta on Line 2 (FMA Line 2). A Magenta armed mode is shown when there is an FMGC constraint such as an altitude constraint.

 

 

Messages

 

Messages for the A/P and F/D appear in Line 3 (FMA Line 3).  

 

 

Approach Capability

 

Approach capability is displayed in Column 4.

 

 

Auto flight Status

 

Auto flight status is shown in Column 5.
